Our Story
Every Bear Deserves a Den.

OUR STORY
Hey, I’m Adam — the guy behind The Bear Den After Dark.
I’m from Indiana, I’ve always had a fascination with bears, and somewhere along the way I realized there might be a way to combine that fascination with two other things I love: being creative and making people laugh.
The Bear Den After Dark started as a way for me to put a little more of myself out into the world.
I’ve always been shy. I was usually the guy keeping to himself, standing off to the side and hoping somebody else would start the conversation first.
But underneath that quiet exterior?
Well...
Let's just say there has always been a considerably naughtier bear waiting to get out.
So I finally let him loose.
The Bear Den After Dark became my way of taking that creative, ridiculous, occasionally inappropriate side of myself and turning it into something that could make somebody smile, laugh, feel confident—and maybe get looked at twice while walking through a crowded bar.
Because sometimes all it takes to bring two people together is a laugh.
And sometimes it takes a shirt that makes someone say:
"Okay...where the hell did you get THAT?"
Either way, conversation started.
🐻 WHY BEARS?
Over the years, I’ve become much more comfortable with who I am.
I'm not thin.
I'm not smooth.
I'm big. I'm hairy. I'm a bear.
And I learned that those aren't things I need to hide.
They're things I can celebrate.
Bear culture has always represented something I love: the idea that attraction doesn't come in one size, one shape or one perfectly sculpted package.
Bears can be muscular. Bears can be chubby. Hairy. Smooth-ish. Young. Older. Loud. Quiet. Leather-clad. Hoodie-wearing. Confident. Shy.
Some bears look intimidating enough to make you reconsider approaching them...
...right up until you discover they're basically a giant teddy bear who wants a cuddle.
We're rough around the edges, soft in all the right places, and occasionally a handful.
That's worth celebrating.
I wanted apparel for guys who aren't interested in apologizing for taking up space.
Something that says:
This is my body. This is my community. This is me. And I look damn good in this shirt.
😂 WHY THE HUMOR?
Because laughter has always been one of my favorite ways of connecting with people.
And because I know exactly what it's like to want to meet someone but have absolutely no idea what to say.
I was the guy standing in the corner.
So I started designing shirts for that guy.
A Bear Den shirt isn't supposed to quietly disappear into your outfit.
It's supposed to do some of the flirting for you.
I want somebody to see it across the room, laugh, walk over and say:
"Okay, I have to know where you got that shirt."
Congratulations.
The hardest part is over.
Now you're talking.
And if that conversation eventually results in someone getting your number?
The Den accepts no responsibility for what happens next.
🐺 WHY FURRIES?
Because bears aren't the only creatures who deserve a Den.
The furry community is one of the most creative, expressive and frequently misunderstood communities out there.
Behind the characters, fursonas, artwork and conventions are people who have built a culture around creativity, imagination, acceptance and finding the confidence to express parts of themselves they might not always feel comfortable showing elsewhere.
I understand that more than they probably realize.
There's something powerful about finding a community where being different isn't something you have to explain.
It's something you're encouraged to embrace.
That's exactly what I want The Bear Den After Dark to represent.
So whether you've got fur, paws, claws, a tail, leather, a harness—or you're just here because the wolf on somebody's shirt caught your attention...
There's room in the Den.
Just don't pull any tails without permission.
🌙 WHY "THE BEAR DEN AFTER DARK"?
Because a Den should feel like somewhere you belong.
And I wanted mine to have a little less daylight.
The Bear Den represents the community I wanted to create: somewhere every kind of bear—and everyone who loves them—can walk through the door.
Muscular bears.
Chubby bears.
Daddy bears.
Cubs.
Furries.
Leather men.
Pups.
And everyone wandering around somewhere in between.
There's no body requirement for entering the Den.
No velvet rope.
No six-pack required.
Bellies are welcome. Fur is encouraged. Confidence looks good on everybody.
And the After Dark part?
That's where the personality comes out.
It's the wink.
The double meaning.
The joke you're pretty sure means exactly what you think it means.
The Bear Den After Dark lives somewhere between pride and mischief—where you can celebrate who you are without taking yourself too seriously.
Because everybody deserves somewhere they can loosen up, laugh a little louder and let their wild side out.
Welcome to the Den.
❤️ WHAT I WANT YOU TO FEEL
More than anything, I want someone wearing one of my designs to feel proud.
Proud of being a bear.
Proud of their body.
Proud of their community.
And confident enough to walk into a room without feeling like they need to shrink themselves to fit into it.
I want the person wearing the shirt to smile.
I want the person walking past them to laugh.
And occasionally, I'd like that person to stop dead in their tracks and think:
"I need to meet that guy."
Every design starts with a pretty simple question:
Would I wear this out, get a laugh...and maybe get a number?
If the answer is yes?
We make it.
Our designs are funny, flirty and just a little filthy.
They're made for the guy who walks into a room belly first and with zero apologies.
They're meant to start conversations.
They're meant to get laughs.
They're meant to make somebody feel noticed.
And if one happens to get laughed at in the bar...
...and peeled off later?
I'd call that a successful night.
🐾 COME ON IN.
The Bear Den After Dark isn't about having the perfect body.
It's about owning the one you've got.
It's about laughing at yourself.
Flirting a little.
Being proud of the community you're part of.
Finding your people.
And maybe causing just enough trouble along the way to have a good story tomorrow morning.
So whether you're a bear, daddy, cub, furry, pup, leather man, admirer—or you're still figuring out exactly where you fit—
there's a spot for you here.
Pull up a chair.
Show a little fur.
Stay awhile.
Every bear deserves a Den.
And things are always a little more fun After Dark. 🐻🌙
